FAQ

Questions?

We've got your back!

Whether you’re a pro or first timer, it’s 100% okay to ask as many questions as possible to know exactly what to expect going into and after your hair removal appointments with us. Let’s address some common questions that we’ve received from clients over the years. If you have questions that are not mentioned here, don’t hesitate to reach out and we’d love to chat with you further.

Questions FOR WAXING?

  • This will vary based on how fast or slow your hair grows, but we on average most hair is long enough to be waxed 2-4 weeks after a fresh shave with NO shaving in between. The hair must be at least the length of a grain of rice or longer.

  • No, please do not trim yourself before coming in. If your regrowth is on the longer side, we will trim small areas for you to ensure optimal comfort during your wax. Most clients who trim at home get a little ahead of themselves and it will usually end up being too short, and have to grow it all out again.

    1. We recommend exfoliating the area being waxed 48 hours prior to your session with your favorite fragrance-free scrub, fragrance free wash & loofah or gentle dry brushing.

    2. If it’s doable, take a warm shower an hour before your session. This helps by opening of the follicle to assist in the removal process.

    3. HYDRATE! Drinks lots of water before your session as dehydration causes the hairs to be brittle and the skin to be dry, leading to discomfort during your wax.

    4. If you’re a bit nervous going into your first time, take an advil 30-45 minutes prior to your session. Consult with your physician beforehand on this step.

  • YES! There are oral & topical products and medications that you must be off of or discontinued from for a certain time before coming to get waxed.

    • AHA/BHAs (glycolic, salicylic), Retin-A/Retinol, Tretinoin, Adapalene/Differin are all products that generate faster cell turnover creating a sensitized state of your skin. Since waxing is a method of exfoliation, waxing on top of this very fragile skin can cause shallow abrasions which is when the skin lifts. It is a minimum of what we want to avoid during a facial wax. So, we require clients who use these products regularly to discontinue them for at least 5-7 days prior to any facial waxes.

    • Antibiotics (oral or topical): We ask that you discontinue or are off of them orally for at least 30 days prior to your session. Antibiotics also leave the skin in a fragile state and can cause lifting of the areas being waxed.

    • Accutane: Accutane completely contraindicates patients from receiving waxing services for the entirety of their usage and at least 8-12 months after being off of it. Accutane is an oral medication that is a very concentrate form of Vitamin A, which sensitizes your entire body including the skin. Waxing on this medication can cause various issues, including lesions on the areas treated.

  • Everyone is different, but on average you will notice that hair will begin to grow back between 7-10 days.

  • It is not painless, but it’s not an intolerable sensation. Your first waxing session will always be the most uncomfortable because it is an unfamiliar sensation. However, the level of sensation will vary based on your natural hair type & texture, pain tolerance, & breathing techniques. With consistency in your session, your sessions will grow to be more tolerable over time since we are working with much finer hairs and root growth.

  • We recommend getting your body services done every 4-5 weeks, and facial areas done every 2-4 weeks.

  • While on your period, we do ask that you wear a tampon or period cup for us to perform the service. Some report that they are a bit more sensitive during their period, but it is still tolerable. If you do not feel comfortable with getting waxed on your period, please let us know at least 24 hours before your session so that we can get your rescheduled to another day without a penalty fee. Our cancellation policy still applies in these situations.

With pregnancy, most report heightened sensitivity during this time, but it is still tolerable to receive waxing services. Waxing is completely safe for mom and baby.

  • Home care is key to maximizing the benefits of your wax investment. While we remove the hair by the root, caring for your skin between sessions is essential.

We offer Bush Balm products at checkout, or you can stop by anytime to pick some up. Bush Balm focuses on addressing common skin issues, especially for areas often overlooked. Their oils soothe, moisturize, brighten, and help prevent ingrown hairs and irritation. Questions FOR LASER HAIR REDUCTION?

  • While waxing has some amazing benefits, it is not a universal treatment that fits everyone’s lifestyle, hair type/texture, or skin type. If you have found that no matter the hair removal option or home care practices, you still end up with ingrown hairs, pigmentation, or you’re just not feeling like you’re seeing results.. laser hair reduction could potentially be for you!

Laser treatments have a more precise method of targeting the root in the follicle by using heat to damage the growth. Laser is not a permanent hair removal alternative, so you will not be bare after your rounds of treatments. However, you will see much finer and sparser results in a fraction of the time compared to other removal methods.

  • Same as waxing, it is not painless, but it is a tolerable sensation. Laser can be a bit more customizable in helping your comfort through the session. This will vary based on your pain tolerance, and hair type/texture. Each “zap” will feel similar to a rubber band snap.

  • On average, most clients will need about 6-10 sessions of laser hair reduction. This number will vary based on your skin type & hair type/texture.

    • Facial laser sessions should be every 4-6 weeks

    • Body laser sessions should be every 6-8 weeks

    1. Hydrate! Dehydration in the skin can cause more discomfort during your session.

    2. You will want to shave the area being treated thoroughly 24-48 hour prior to each of your sessions.

  • You can absolutely pay by session! All of our pricing is available to see on our website to get an idea of what the investment will be. Laser hair reduction is an investment. Especially when it comes to purchasing a package of treatments, it can be a big pill to swallow. If you would like to do a package, you would receive 20% off your final $ amount for the package.
